Greg Lambert discusses the recent signing of the DELL Technologies global partnership agreement with DELL.
We have the pleasure and the privilege of working with DELL Technologies from the very inception of Readiness. Working with the transition from legacy ChangeBase customers to the integration of Readiness in the core application related services within DELL.
Over the years, Readiness has worked to understand, accommodate, and then provide an increasing variety of application related services starting with application assessments for:
- compatibility
- suitability (for virtualization)
- quality
- security
Application compatibility challenges are still very much present in 2022, but are very different from the monolithic, and breaking changes that occurred in the migration from Windows XP to Windows 7.
Instead of a single mountain, desktop, and server migrations experience many “hills” including:
- 32-bit to 64-bit migrations
- new security baselines
- every more locked down machines
- increasingly complex pre-requisites and dependencies
Responding to these broad and increasing challenges, Readiness expanded our offerings from assessment, to fixing and then to application packaging and conversions. Building on a tremendous code and knowledge base, Readiness is now able to offer a “packaging factory” where each application is converted from a legacy EXE or combined set of installation routines and delivered as:
- Certified compliant (Microsoft best practices)
- Validated (process checked)
- Tested (install and smoke tested against client builds)
- Fully documented (all history and README information)
- Published (delivered to Intune)
The ability to consume any application format (that runs on Windows) and convert it to a fully certified, fully tested, and published application was considered an impossible task a few years ago. Many, many vendors tried and failed to deliver an automated service. With Readiness, we focused on validation and testing to confirm the success of each stage, allowing us to gradually expand our services and offerings – with confidence.
